The Public Works Department is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the City of Roberta’s core infrastructure and municipal services. This includes street maintenance, right-of-way management, stormwater and drainage systems, water distribution, wastewater treatment, solid waste services, and the upkeep of city buildings and grounds. Our department is committed to delivering high-quality, cost-effective services that protect public health, support community growth, and promote a clean and sustainable environment.

The City is contracted with  Waste Management and Recycling Service to pick-up and dispose of residential and commercial solid waste once each week. The assigned collection day for city residents is Monday. The City maintains a limb truck that the streets employees use to pick up residential yard waste as needed.

The Street Department is responsible for the repair and maintenance of roads within the city limits. Roads are continuously inspected and repaired using hot mix asphalt and/or cold patch blacktop to provide a safe roadway for motorists.

Department employees routinely read, inspect, and repair water meters; repair city water lines; and test water supplies to ensure a reliable, clean, and safe water supply for area residents.

The Wastewater Treatment Department operates a modern, state-of-the-art plant that processes approximately 444,000 gallons of wastewater from the city’s sewer system each day. The wastewater is processed and sanitized, and the treated water is safely redistributed into a tributary of the Flint River.
